well this is kind of embarrassing, but remember configure arguments when 
upgrading.

I forgot to build the sflow, so I was running older sflow capture daemon ...

for the future I have done what I usually do for configure arguments:
[hlk@wiseguy ~]$ cat bin/configure-nfdump 
#! /bin/sh
#
./configure --enable-nfprofile --enable-nftrack  --enable-sflow 

This helps me remember the exact features I use in various programs

For me nfsen is perfect now!
