What do you mean by "obscuring some fundamentals information?" We are adding some behaviour via event handlers, but we are always calling the base implementation, and up until recently, they have been working fine. We are looking into the issue in recent change sets to our own code, but were hoping to get some information on what areas this assert would get triggered.
