I've run with a suction cup mount on my 650 when I had a Street Scene
windscreen and it worked very well but I always had a lanyard attached
so if it came off, the GPS was not lost or worse yet, it wouldn't end
up in a place that would lock my steering or effect the controls.
Remember to Drive the Bike if the suction cup fails, don't get
distracted and do something that will get you in bad trouble.

I seldom run the GPS on my Nighthawk now since it's really just a
local driver Beuaty Queen.

On my SPort/Tour bike I run a Garmin StreetPilot 2820 also with
bluetooth, XM Radio, Weather, etc linked to my Blackberry. I'm a firm
believer that you can't do better or safer than a RAM Mount. Check out
GPSCity.com and you'll find a myriad of mounting options for
motorcycles. They make a steering stem nut mount, handlebar mount of
various configuration, lots of options and for not much more than
about $30 plus/minus. I just bought another mount designated mount
from them for my Follow Me SPOT GPS Emergency Locator that I run on my
trips, too.
