I've got this new trick that allows me to jerk the bike up onto its
centerstand while I'm still straddling  it.

Left heel on the lever, make contact with the ground, rock the bike a
little left and right to insure weight is centered over the stand's
two legs, semi-stand on the lever (you can feel the bike raise up a
fraction of an inch when the position is just right.

Then fully stand up, left heel hard down and yank back smoothly on the
handlebars.  Voila !

Works every time...almost.

Not so well if the surface you're parking on has an almost
imperceptable grade to the left, your weight is all on your left foot
when you pull back on the bars, and you pull with a little less vigor
than usual.  In that case, you tend to faw down, go boom, as my
grandson would say.

Which I did.

Managed to stay with it almost to the bitter end, trying to avoid a
lotta damage.  But
had to let go an inch or so from the ground and
tuck and roll away.  Damage: Clutch lever rolled up into an almost
perfect circle, like it was designed to be that way.  Kinda reminded
me of Chuck Connors' tricked-out, rapid-fire saddle gun in "The
Rifleman."

Other than a little road rash to my pinky finger and a big red blood
bruise on the back of my hand, the only major damage was to my pride.
Fortunately, it was dark and nobody saw, but I still felt foolish as
hell.

Managed to get the bike up and the kickstand down, went in the house,
got on the computer and ordered a new clutch lever from Bike Bandit.
Then went a put a bandaid on my still bleeding finger.

Lever arrived two days later, was installed that day...and nobody
knows about this embarrassing little misadventure ...(!)
