Hi all-

I have a 92 Nighthawk 750. I recently bought a used tank in very nice
condition to replace my battered and peeling one. Unfortunately, I
didn't realize the differences between the CA and non-CA models. My
old tank has an extra outlet for the CA emissions setup; the new one
doesn't.

I went ahead and installed it. It runs...sort of. What has started
happening is that after running for a time gas stops getting to the
engine, and it stops. I noticed that when I open the gas cap on this
tank, there's a release of vacuum which never used to happen with the
old tank. I can get the bike running again by opening up the tank,
releasing the vacuum, and waiting a bit. Choke helps; if I open the
choke a bit and am careful to not give the bike too much gas, it keeps
running.

I'm assuming the differences between the CA and non-CA setups are
causing this to happen. Ideally I'd find a CA tank, but it took me so
long to find this one (shipped from Ohio) that I don't see that
happening without buying a new OEM park.

My questions are,

1) Are there any modifications or adjustments to the bike that I could
make to get this working reasonably?
2) Does it sound like any other problem, rather than one with the CA/
non-CA differences?

Thanks in advance for any advice
