You have excellent taste. K & N is a premium quality product. I checked with their customer service people. The more expensive one is chrome, the other black. That, and fact the black one appears to be dome-shaped and the chrome one flat, seems only difference. They are physically the same size.
You'll need the cup-shaped accessory I mentioned to get your old one off. Since you'll only be using it once, I recommend the cheapest one you can find at the nearest auto parts store. Shouldn't pay more than $5, if that.
