And the closest you can come now, would be to fully charge the battery (if you can) then drain the battery cell(s) in question and replace with new electrolyte. How many cells/how much water did you have to add? A few tablespoons probably wouldn't have much effect.
I don't understand how the tube could have siphoned out the acid. The tube connection is above the liquid level of the battery. Any idea? Capping the tube would pretty much defeat its purpose. ----- Original Message ----- From: stanley/ Randolph To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, September 04, 2009 2:58 PM Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Alternator problem... If you added water, then you weakened the solution; how much, depends on how much water you had to add.... It is not the same as water evaporating out of solution, you lost the whole , and it should be replaced with same. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: jason scott <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, September 4, 2009 2:38:25 PM Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Alternator problem... 86 700s nh had no drainage tube for battery. acid was messing up frame and exaust. added drainage tube with no cap on the end. when i drove it the air syphoned out the battery acid. added water and capped the tube. everything back to normal. jason scott south carolin --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
