I recommend finding a shop/service manual for your specific model bike. Helm Inc. supplies them in the states for U.S. marketed bikes, at http://www.helminc.com/helm/welcome_retail_ahc.asp
I'm assuming your bike is a European version and may require a slightly different manual or a supplement. And you may have to find a European supplier for the manual. As for the speedo, here's an overview of the way it works: The business end of the cable connects to a housing which rides on the front axle between the fork and wheel hub. It contains a nylon gear which drives your speedo cable. The nylon gear is, in turn, driven by a flat washer with bent tabs which fit into notches machined into the wheel hub, and opposite tabs into notches in the nylon piece. The only way to inspect the internal parts of this assembly is to remove the front wheel from the forks, then the housing from the axle. It's best to have the manual and a replacement speedo gear assembly or rebuild kit in hand, before you attempt this. That way you can perform the work on the same day, with less downtime. Be aware you'll need a torque wrench to tighten all the nuts/bolts to specs on reassembly, and grease to re-lube the moving parts.
