Ok so I'm behind on my e-mail (AGAIN) and just watched this one.
         I agree AWESOME!
Heres the thing - I just don't understand how HD survives - most of
those claims are true, plus a few more that I'd add - HD Sparkplugs are
rebadged NGK plugs. Look at the manufacturing location on the electrical
components - Japan, China.
Lets get real here - like any manufacturer they have to outsource
some parts to make the bike affordable. Therefore, you get foreign made
stuff. Kinda ironic for the 'American Motorcycle' to have Japanese parts.
To be fair - in the past 10 years in particular - there has been
more improvement to HD engines than ever before. I see a lot of them and my
Dad rides one so I hear things. Bigger engines, fuel injection, reliability
improvements across the board.
But - the strongest thing that HD has going for them - MARKETING.
There are so many people out there that don't even know that other
manufacturers make cruiser style motorcycles. I see it every day. I've even
made the mistake a couple times myself of identifying a custom painted
Kawasaki Vulcan as a HD. In the mind of the public - Harley Davidson means
motorcycle. Anything else just doesn't mean anything.
         Thoughts?
           -Joey
