I've found that, in my experience (which doesn't really include motorcycle seats, mind), a regular washing with a mild soapy water solution and a wipe down keeps vinyl pretty clean and solid without degrading it. Aggressive chemicals are going to shorten it's life, and too much dirt buildup will do the same.
