For years being in OH I road without helmet in shorts and T-shirt usually in tennis shoes. In most cases, if you survive the accident but don't have/ have enough insurance, the state is paying for your hospital tab... Wrecking a motorcycle doesn't just affect you. Wrecking a car (even single-car collisions) doesn't just affect you. I am the only one getting damage by not wearing it, so why it has to be mandatory? here in MD they are increasing the fines for not wearing the seatbelt by quite a lot, plus giving you points...
