Yep, I've tried the official grip glue and didn't like it, it's too tacky and just makes it harder to slide the grip on, plus it makes a mess. Hairspray stays wet for a minute or so, long enough to let you slide the grip into place, and when it dries it holds just fine. I used to use it on my bikes all the time as a kid, does just fine on motorcycles too. Plus, if you have one of those female types in the house you probably already have a bottle, no need to go buy anything.
