Paul... You Da' Man!

I'm a long time original owner of two Nighthawks. And so the stories
go...

The girlfriend and I headed down to the local Honda store, she
couldn't reach the floor sitt'n on the 650, so the salesman suggested
the 700. And wouldn't you know it, the center area actually was
lower. And so we drove off on a 1984 Blue 700

Well, my buddy got to like'n the bike, so months later, we headed
north to a dealer who supposedly had another blue one, but turned out
to be a red. He got a great deal and a free helmet to boot.

We accessorized, customized, and traveled the highways for the next
couple of years. Getting "Thumbs Up" everywhere we went. But as all
good stories must come to an end... Blue had to get returned to the
other half (the x), bit of a involved story, but the end result was I
got my car back in the process. woe was me :(

Now Red, still belonging to my friend at the time, was destine to stay
in the family, and before to long, I ended up adopting it as my own.
(After a few dollars changed hands of course).

Jumping a few light years ahead... Red has been sit'n under the
workbench, covered, with 34000 original miles and still look'n
new. / I've got to confess here, that there's been another bike in
my life since. Something for the long rides, but Red has never been
out of my thoughts. Ok ok,... the other bike is a K1200LT.

Moving along... Coming this year when the big bike goes under the
knife for some R/R, the 700 will be coming out! I've done some
checking around for the basics... front fork seals, new battery, carb
rebuilding kit, etc. all still available. So once the garage
undergoes its reconfiguration these next couple of months, there'll be
some new work space to be gett'n to the revitalization of Red.

For those of you familiar with the So.California area, I'll be look'n
forward to visiting the Rock Store again, and hopefully meeting up
with you all as well.

One thing to note, is that over the past year/two, I've been bumping
into seeing more Knighthawks than every before. Mostly making a turn
or going the other direction I was, but was still great to see them on
the road.

As most of you know.. the 700 has very distinctive sound, and one day
just last month I heard something running up/down my street, so I
headed out to confirm my suspicions, and sure enough, it was a 700.
They guy had just bought it. It wasn't in great shape, poor to be
exact, but the guy had the biggest smile and was taking his lunch time
to get some rid'n time in.

Long chit/chat aside, I hope to see him again in this new year (Happy
2012 to All), as he has the desire to bring his 700 back into shape.

I'll be digg'n out the pics in the months to come, and will for sure
post to share with all.

Paul... In reading your website (which brought me to the group), I
read through the list of accessories you noted came with the 700.
There's still one more to add.... The helmet has a miniature bra. I
still have mine, (unfortunately, the other went back with Blue.) But
the good news is, that once I get some photo's up, and if others are
interested in having one, there's a long time local bra mfg located
down in OC called Colgan, makers of some of the very best bra's and
body covers. I once had them make a custom one for my Ford Fiesta
(yes, I have an 1980 sport), and using the existing one as a template,
I'm certain they could replicate more upon request. When the time
comes, we'll do a poll for takers and move forward from there.

Best to All, and Really look forward to a huge gathering in the future.
