Welcome to the Nighthawk list! I have the same year and model (and
color!) as yours, so hopefully I can be a little helpful. You're
correct that you're missing a tachometer. Unfortunately, this bike is
known for broken tachometers. Mine broke a couple years ago, and I
never got around to fixing it as I find it unnecessary. Your best bet
is to check craigslist for someone with a similar non-running bike and
ask if they're willing to part with the tach.

I'll send over a photo of my instrument cluster when I get home tonight.
