Are you getting as good of grip out of it as you did when it was new? I
usually burn through tires faster than a year but I remember about two years
ago I picked up a Ducati that had sat for about a year outdoor under a
cover. The tires looked new and didn't show any signs of weather damage. I
thought the bike was safe but the compound hardened and I found myself
sliding down the road at 65 mph (lowsided on warm tires) thankfully wearing
a race suit. If I recall correctly it was a set of Pirelli Diablo Corsa
II's and I didn't try to figure out how old they actually were because I
didn't know better at the time. Now I really keep a close eye on my rubber.

For those who don't know:

You can determine the age of your tire by a DOT code on the sidewall. Here's
a nice little how to.

Just out of curiosity, what tire do you have on the front and how old is it?
Glad you were not going faster amigo or it probably would have been much
worse.

I'm ok. The bike is mostly ok. My Thursday is screwed.
