What flew at you, a spring, oil, fragments of the cylinder? Backfires are from
unburned gas fumes in the exhaust, are all cylinders firing?

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Clicking and backfiring

Started my 85 cb450sc a couple days ago and I starded hearing this clicking
noise and something flew at my face when I got close, but i have no idea what
it was. I continued to hear this noise from the engine area and then i heard
some real backfiring from the exhaust when I bring up the rpms. Water in the
gas? muffler heads loose? something in the actual engine? scared to start it
again.
