I recommend the washer shim mod to ANYBODY who is already breaking down the
carbs.
Factory they are jetted VERY lean, more fuel (to a point) is more power.

Kind of unrelated, but I had a modern 2.5hp 4 stroke outboard burn a hole
in the cylinder wall because it was factory jetted to lean, just wasent
ment to be rum like I ran it. Under More Investigation Simply Changing the
jets would have given me at least another hp. That's the only difference
between the merc. 2.5 and 3.5... lesson learned
