I used L shaped pieces of aluminum to make my own. I replaced the shock
mounting bolts for longer ones and put a long threaded bolt to go through where
the rear turn signals mount. Those are attached to the frame. I had nuts to
hold the long bolt in place where the signals were. It was maybe a foot long.
I'm probably calling it a wrong name, but any hardware store will have it. Then
I made a flat bracket to hold the two pieces together to look like a mounting
plate for a trunk. I bent the L shaped pieces to follow the curve of the rear
end. That is why I used aluminum. Plus it's light. Once you put the hard bags
on, you won't even see the brackets. I made my own hard bags from discarded
street signs. Ummmm, pretty? Not me, sorry. But very useful.

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Hard Bags for '96 Nighthawk

Does anyone know of a solution to add fender rails or where to affix brackets
for mounting hard bags like Pelicans on a '96 Nighthawk?I imagine it has been
discussed here, but I have not found it yet. Thanks.
