Ditto on the kudos. You guys are great. Thanks all for the advice.

Problem is that one sentence leads to a question, and on and on.

1. Does the left muffler also have that drainage hole? (still waiting on
the Clymer's)
2. If you go to a stainless steel brake line, then you would not have to
worry about the amount of slack in the line and could order to whatever
size you wanted. Finding longer cables could be a son of a gun.
Noticed that my brake line does not go through the fork mounted guide that
the tach cable does.
Fortunately I can use the risers on the DR to get an idea how much room
there is to play with.
4. Needed to make a fast brake at a changing light. Found my rear end sway
to the right. I know shoes are not as efficient, but that never was a
problem on the Shadow. Something else to check out.
5. I have seen the spacer throttle mod and it does make for faster
acceleration.
Being old school, I learned to drill out the mixture screw cover and after
raising the rpms to turn the mixture screw in until the carb starts to
stutter, then back off about a half turn.
6. Round the world, that cyclops headlight would need some sort of a cover.
Big target.
7. Over the rear brake light, the fender has two seams running from front
to back. Looks like a compartment cover. Cannot seem to open it. Access to
the storage area without having to take off the seat??

Dapple is going into storage soon. The wife was not thrilled about having a
motorcycle off of the family room last year. Working on the bike over the
winter did however keep me busy, sane and out of her hair. :)

There is a saying that goes along the lines that life is an open book.
Those that do not travel fail to get beyond the first page.
A recent digital bike newsletter came up with the title, "Places to Ride
Before You Die." A take off on the books on places. Turned out to nothing
more than a plug for a few Latin American tours.
My two cents in the matter goes that riding adventures are not so much
placed on distance or how exotic the locale. An adventure is how far do you
dare go beyond your comfort zone? My greatest rides have been the early
ones. How far can I ride in one day? Well, if I can do that then I can ride
around Lake Michigan, If I can do that, maybe I can ride Route 66, and so
on. Sometimes it is good to be a newbie or at least the mindset.

How far have you ridden your NH in one day?

So off topic, you are riding solo on the trip of a lifetime. It may be 500
miles or 12,000 kms. A major engine failure. What do you do?

A contender for long winded posts.
