Some of the aftermarket relays are backwards. Opposite of the original 
mounting. They work fine, just need to trim some of the placid housing.

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] My First '83 Nighthawk

I just picked up this beautiful '83 Nighthawk! It does not run at the moment, 
hopefully I can change that soon. The guy I bought it from says It ran last 
summer but "he shorted the electrical system when he was trying to carve down 
an aftermarket starter relay". The guy said he's replaced a bunch of wiring, 
but hasn't quite got to the finish line.


Any tips on where I should start with this bike to get it running again? Should 
I just replace the starter relay and go from there?  I am very handy and plan 
on doing all of the work myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It has 47,000 miles on it and I have no idea about how it was maintained.

I plan on replaced all of the spark plugs, flushing and replacing the engine 
oil and rear finish oil and air filter. Anything else in regards to "MUST 
REPLACE" that I should do?


Any help would be greatly appreciated!
