After I finished my class this morning, a Nikon Rep (right here in Thailand) called me on my mobile and told me he has a surprise waiting for me. Nikon Thailand will hold a grand opening ceremony for what is supposed to be P500 on November 25, 1998 at Dusit Thani Hotel, Bangkok! When I arrived home, I found a letter waiting for me. It was sent by Nikon Club which is also managed by Nikon Thailand. I'll try to summarize and translate it into English : -------------------- On November 25, 1998 we will introduce a new SLR body which performs somewhere between F5 and F90X. It's our pleasure to invite you to participate the event and find more information free of charge. In this very same event, we will introduce three new lenses : AF-S 28-70/2.8D IF-ED AF-S 80-200/2.8D IF-ED AF 28-105/3.5-4.5D You will have the chance to order these products in advance with discount. Those who place orders will also be able to win a lucky-draw Pronea-S too. -------------------- Note : The name P500 was not mentioned in the letter. But it really was mentioned on the phone. No specification of this new body was included in the letter. The rep who called me refused to give me any more info at the moment. He told me he doesn't know anything too. I don't know whether or not he was telling a lie. Maybe he just want me to find out that day. Now, do we know anything about this AF 28-105/3.5-4.5D? Who knows, this may, again, be 80% misinformation? But I surely will skip my classes next Wednesday. :) Will try to write up what I will see (and hopefully, handle) with my limited photographic experience. I'm not a pro, sorry.
