Nikon SB-28 Speedlight with SD-8

I've seen mention in literature, postings, magazines, etc., of a new SD-8a
for the SB-28.  I have a regular SD-8 for my SB-26.  Can this also be used
on the new SB-28?  Anyone know the difference in the SD-8 and SD-8a?
