I have used a Quantum 1+ with an SB17 for some time and have never had any
problem. I think if you set your drive on "CH" and ran off 36 exposures as
fast as could, you would probably roast the flash with the heat from the flash
tube, but I've never felt the need to do so. I have run through half a dozen
36 exposure rolls at awards banquets and not had the battery show less than a
full charge. In addition, the lead/acid battery will hold its charge for
months between uses. Kodak recommends a Quantum battery for use with their DCS
420/460 which is an N90s with Kodak's high dollar back because Kodak's own
built in battery is such junk.
