Thomas, I have no practical experience with any of these lenses, however in a recent test in Practical Photography (well respected UK magazine) the Sigma was given top marks and was said to beat the "old" Nikkor 80-200/2.8 on optical performance, AF speed and price. What's more, it is "D" compatible and comes with two teleconverters, 1.4 x and 2x, which (if my memory is correct) maintain the AF and D capabilities also. John
