zoom lens question

Hello friends,

I am in desperate need of a long telephoto lens. I can't afford Nikon's
optics. Has anyone used the Sigma 170-500 AF? How does it perform?

Also, any info on mirror lenses will be very much apreciated. Do mirror
lenses have good sharpness?
