<Does anyone know what was changed about the SB-22 to make it the SB-22s?>

New Speedlight from Nikon
Nikon have announced a replacement for the SB22 speedlight .
Although more compact and lightweight than its predecessor, the SB22s has
more powerful guide number of 28 and a wide-angle coverage of 28mm.
Multi-Sensor Balanced Fill-Flash is available with the F5, F90X and F70
when used with AF Nikkor lenses.
The new speedlight has a choice of four aperture settings in non-TTL
automatic control mode as opposed to two in the SB22 - a real bonus for
users of Nikon
manual cameras such as the FM2.
Other major features include: 
     Three flash modes - TTL automatic control, non-TTL automatic control
and manual control
     AF-Assist illuminator
     Tilting flash head from -7 to 90 degrees
     5 second re-cycling time 
Dimensions: 68mm x 105mm x 80mm
Weight: 210g
