In my zeal to have owned at least one of every Nikon body ever built, I recently swapped an FT3 for a near-perfect FG. I have a question about TTL flash on this body: With a dedicated flash unit, I understand that the camera automatically sets the sync at 1/90 when the ready signal comes on. However, if the camera is in program mode, the camera does not appear to vary the aperture when using the flash (it's TTL, but at f/22). Is this normal behavior? Is it necessary to change the aperture manually, without metering, when using TTL on the FG? Wish I had a manual. Thanks for any help.
