I a previous message I commented on flare in pictures taken with my Nikkor
28/2.0 - but the more I study the pictures in question, the more I think the
problem must have been dust - the red Ugandan dust that covers everything in
the bush during dry season - in spite of my efforts to keep the filter clean. 

I conclude this because other shots in similar light are contrasty and free of
noticeable flare. One thing certain: all but a just a few of the slides are
very sharp, contrasty, and saturated - so I guess the lens stays in my kit.
