I've had the F4 for a while now as my main body after using the F801s since
1990. IMHO The best thing about the F4 is it's traditonal layout. The
second best thing is it's ability to work with old lenses. However, the F4
will not matrix meter with AI lenses. I know because I used to own an old
35 1.4 AI lens. I've used the F4 with the 105 2.5 AIS in Matrix with good
results. I've shot lots of slide film with its Matrix metering and my
results indicate that it's right 90% of the time. The camera is built like
a hockey puck but a bit heavy. It's nicely sealed (i've shot in a downpour
in Vancouver, only for a few minutes). The mechanical cable release is
nice. The shutter is nicer than the F801s. It's not as loud IMO. It's great
to be able to rewind the film manually too. Other than that it will be very
hard for me to get rid of this camera. It's a real nice camera for making
photographs if not to sit on top of your desk and admire.
