I know where you're coming from, but I'm still hopeful that
the macro range will AF. The only reason I think it could be
is that in the picture of this new lens I do not see the "button"
that existed on the 35-70/105/135 lenses that you needed to
depress to enter the macro mode. Also, the macro mode on those
lenses was at the 35mm end only, too! So, I'll keep my fingers
crossed for the additional improvement of AF in the macro range :)
I too hope it is sharp and has the distortion well-controlled.
