I own and have used extensively the 85/1.8mm for three
years (the age of my daughter!!). I am happy with this
lens, this is my standar portrait lens, and it is reputed
as a good portraiture lens, but, definetively, it is not
a lens designed to improve bokeh (my 28-200 AFD Sigma non
aespherical zoom, which is an ugly lens, has a better bokeh
than my 85/1.8). Nevertheless, in the past, I never care about
bokeh till people begun to talk about it in this list and some
NewsGroups. Yes, bokeh is difficult to verbalize, althought it can
be defined is terms of the radial distribution of the light of a
defocused spot source of light. If you want to "see" the bokeh of
several lenses, go to http://www.engr.uvic.ca/~vhchan/bokeh.html.
There's another www site of an University from Asia (I don't have
here the html address) were you can see clearly the change in the
bokeh allowed by the DC Nikkors.
