These look pretty similar, and the optical formulas appear to be identical.  I
don't think it would be difficult to replace the aperture stop down mechanism so
it stops down to f/32, nor would it be difficult to add an extra gear so the
focus ring rotates a different way, or coat a couple more elements.  The filter
ring diameter is simply a matter of using a consistent size within a lens
family.  Rebadged lenses often feel different from each other, even though they
are identical from an optical standpoint.
