Your camera and film will go through the x-ray
machines at most European airports, but the carry-on
x-ray machines will not harm your film no matter how
many times they go through.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. The effects of X-ray are cumulative, and high speed
film IS sensitive to even low-level X-rays. See.www.f-stop.org for real
information.

The only idiot, thug, rent-a-cops you will find will
be at O'Hare in Chicago.

In the USA, you can demand a hand inspection for any item, period. It's
federal law. Being cooperative and helpful (handing the inspector a
clear plastic bag with film inside makes their life easy), and not
rushing them helps.

In Europe, you do not have this right.
