That is interesting. Seems that GTK3 supports ligatures, so I will test it with 
my editor. (General I would prefer a proportional font, I am using the "Input" 
proportional fonts currently, they are designed for source code display.) I 
still wonder how ligatures can work in source code -- how is the cursor 
positioned, how can selecting text ranges work? Have to investigate.
