Detox or Cleansing Diet Food ListIn addition to choosing from the food list,
be sure to:

   - Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day, preferably at room
   temperature.

   - Consider diluting fruit juices with water.

   - Take the time to enjoy meals, being sure to relax and chew your food
   thoroughly.

 Fresh Fruit

Indulge in fresh fruit! You may wish to limit grapefruit somewhat, as it
contains the compound *naringin*, which can inhibit some of the detox
enzymes produced by the liver.

Fresh Vegetables

Most vegetables, with the exception of corn, are excellent choices.
Vegetables with deep coloring are rich in antioxidants. Choose from
vegetables including broccoli, cauliflower, onions, garlic, carrots,
artichokes, and beets.



Rice

Rice tends to be easy on the digestive system. Options include brown or
basmati rice, and products made from rice, such as rice cakes, crackers and
pasta.

Grains

In addition to rice, consider millet, amaranth, quinoa, and buckwheat. Wheat
is generally not recommended.

*Legumes*

Choices include peas, lentils, chickpeas (garbonzo beans), kidney beans,
pinto beans, and mung beans. Peanuts tend not to be recommended, as they are
commonly allergenic.

Fish

Enjoy poached, steamed, and broiled fish in moderation.


 Nuts and Seeds

Feel free to sprinkle unsalted nuts or seeds over your meal or to use nut
butters. Choices include pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, flax
seeds, walnuts, pecans, almonds, and cashews.

Oil

Extra-virgin olive oil is an excellent choice for most people.

Condiments

Condiment choices include sea salt, vegetable salt, vinegar, honey, soy
sauce, and fresh or dried herbs and spices.

Beverages

Water is always an excellent choice. Consider herbal teas or green tea. Try
to avoid teas containing caffeine. Lemon water, 100% fruit or vegetable
juices (may be diluted), or rice milk are additional options.
