Sharad Kelkar aka Nahar of Saat Phere is desperate to lose weight. The
actor, who has been a tad plump for the past few months, has been asked to
lose weight by the show's producers. The reason? He looks too chubby on
screen which is not going well with his character.

Sharad has been playing Nahar since Saat Phere's inception. He wasn't
battling with weight problems earlier. However, the actor went on a 20-day
leave when he had a ligament injury in December. Sharad, who earlier weighed
83 kgs, put on five kgs as he couldn't work out for two months, post injury.

A source from the production house said, "Sharad has always been very
punctual on the sets and he is very dedicated to his work. But he put on
weight when he went on leave because of the ligament injury. He became so
plump that it was showing on screen. He has to look fit as he plays a Rajput
in Saat Phere. We had to finally tell him that he has put on a lot of
weight. Thankfully, he took it in the right spirit and went on a crash
diet."

Sharad went on a strict diet on Dr Sarita Davre's prescription. The result
is showing and he is now a fit 78 kgs after losing 10 kgs.

When contacted, Sharad confirmed the story. "I had to take leave and
couldn't exercise because of the ligament injury. I was giving close-up
shots for the show as I was unable to move around too much. My eating habits
didn't change and I became really fat. So, I consulted Dr Sarita and have
been under a strict diet. I have lost 10 kgs in 25 days," he said.

Talking about his diet, Sharad said, "After waking up at 7 am, I have a cup
of lemon tea, then work out for 30 minutes before leaving for work. My diet
does not allow me to have oily and non-vegetarian food. I also can't have
any sweets or hard drinks. I have also been asked to eat a lot of salads and
fruits. I consume a lot of water and fruit juices, which is very
refreshing."

Sharad visits his dietician every day. "Barring weekends, I go to Dr
Sarita's clinic at Vile Parle every day. But sometimes, I do eat paranthas
without telling her," he added. Sharad plans to continue with his diet and
exercise. "It feels nice to be fit and healthy. I have decided to keep a
track on my weight," he said.
