~This Week's Spiritual Sharing~ Cracker Box Angel Sherry Kerby © WireNot I guess I should start by giving you a little background. I was, at that time of this story, a young teenage mother. And was from the very start, consumed in love with my child, Brian. We lived in a very small town at the time, Robert Lee Texas, with a total population of about twelve hundred people.
You know, the kind of small town where absolutely everyone knows everyone, and absolutely everyone knows everyone's business. Anyway, my cousin opened up a small dress shop downtown and that was my very first job as a teenage mother. I would come in and open the shop each morning, stay there all day, and close up in the evening. One day, I had Brian with me because my mother who usually kept him, was unable to look after him. Brian was sitting on the floor beside me eating animal crackers when a middle-aged women -- whom I had never seen before -- came into the shop. She said she wasn't looking for anything specific, just browsing. Suddenly, without warning, Brian began choking violently; and I could tell that it was really bad. I panicked. I did not know the Heimlich Maneuver, or anything to do, at that time. This angel of a lady picked him up and proceeded to get him un-choked. She then smiled and handed Brian back to me, both of us crying. She left the store, and I never saw her again. Though I checked all over town -- as I mentioned before, the kind of small town where absolutely everyone knows everyone, and absolutely everyone knows everyone's business -- no one in the community knew of a woman with her description!
