It's no longer about
summer. Sunglasses have become the norm - whetheroutdoors or indoors. We'll
reserve comment about that trend, but glareshave become a 'must have'
accessory. However, you don't want to becomea fashion victimand pick up
anything that is the flavour of the season. Here are a fewtips to help you
decide on shades that suit you, based on the shape ofyour face. Because fads
are about everyone, style is about you as anindividual…

                                    But this is in...

Bigis beautiful this season and the oversized bumble-bee glares are backin
vogue - Think classic Audrey Hepburn style or closer home, NehaDhupia in
Mithiya. Bling too is big right now with Swarovski studdedframes and discrete
rhinestone patterns on glasses that can transformthe simple girl-next door to a
super-star. For frames, the colours thisseason are red hot and gold, toned down
with subtle tints in blue andbrown. But just because big is 'in' doesn't mean
this look will suiteveryone. Read on because we've got something for everyone
and everyface.

Round face

So,you've been gifted with the classic round face, that doesn'tautomatically
imply that round glasses will suit you. If anything, stayaway from them. Rule
no 1: Steer clear of frames that exactly matchyour face-cut. Opt for smaller
sleeker sunglasses in square or otherangular shapes because this will add
length to your face and will alsomake it look leaner. Make sure the shades come
minus chunkyside-shields, go instead with thin side-frames.

Oval face

Here'sa shape that allows for a few more options. Again stay away fromrounded
shapes. Instead go with angles. Big, bold frames can flatteryou and add a
much-needed fullness to the central portion of your face.Once again keep the
rims and side shields sleek but feel free to jazzthings up just a bit with
bling.

Heart - shaped face

Ifyou've got an endearing heart-shaped face much like JenniferAnniston's, show
it off with a classic round, oval or square shapedframe. But supersized isn't
flattering on you. So, no bumble-bees foryou either. As far as side-rims go,
keep it thin and sleek.

Square face

Fewthings add to a feminine face like a strong squared jaw-line. Androunded
and oval frames are totally for you. Whereas all frames angularare a complete
no-no. When it comes to side shields you have a largerange to pick from - sleek
or chunky wrap-arounds, either way you cancarry it off.

Men's eye-wear

Whilethe same rules based on face shape apply to you, you definitely won'tbe
seen sporting the bumble-bee (a tad too much even for themetrosexual man, we
say) For a macho look go with the classicaviator-style sunglasses. Opt for a
metal rim in gold and if that's toomuch colour for you, try a rimless look
instead. Also try sportingtinted glasses in solid black, blue or brown. If
you'd like to jazz itup, allow yourself some bling but keep it simple, subtle
and verydiscrete (probably limited to a logo), or macho might turn into
theDelhi-businessman-gone-wrong look!

• When choosing sunglasses, always check for glasses that offer at least 99
percentage UV protection.

• Justbecause you have a dark coloured tint, it doesn't imply you havegreater
protection from UV rays. In fact, tints have nothing to do withUV protection

• While the sun's rays may feelless intense in winter, they are still strong
enough to cause eyedamage. Come rain or shine, don't leave home without your
shades.
