I was trying to install NixOS in a VirtualBox from the

error: Your Nix store has a database in Berkeley DB format. To

whenever I try any of the nix-* commands.

There is a new ISO now:

http://nixos.org/releases/nixos/nixos-0.1pre12173-9fkysak3/

which should solve this problem.

Does this mean that I screwed something up during the install?
The only non-required thing I did during installation was to call nixos-checkout (as the manual suggests).

Yes, just yesterday we switched Nixpkgs to use the new Berkeley DB-free branch of Nix. (And I made a screwup: the version in Nixpkgs didn't have support for converting old schemas. This has been fixed now.)

Excellent! I've installed using the new ISO and everything comes up fine now.

Thanks,
