This is easy to understand: the job does not start. Thus upstart restarts it. You'll find more info in /var/log/upstart/virtualbox* You can try having a look at /etc/init/virtualbox* files and start the job in a shell manually. Eventually there are some "no daemon, no background" command line options. Some services can be made print debugging info, ...
