Why did I miss this mail? I think lot's of us had thoughts like this (at least I had).
One of the core features of nix is that its lazy - I guess that's one of the main reason why Eelco didn't just use python/ruby/perl ... So what do you think about how performance would compare? There are *lots* of use cases for using another high level language (hackage, ruby ,python packages being favorite samples).
