Excerpts from Matthew Sackman's message of Wed Apr 02 11:18:32 +0000 2014: > But I'm not sure we're disagreeing, or actually talking about the same > thing. So if I've misunderstood, please do say! But in the end in which way does nix differ from rpms or homebrew etc? Nix allows having multiple versions of the same package, except that there is not a big difference.. That's why once you can generate nix derivations it should be possible to build rpms eventually. Of course for the "nix store" programs are more likely to work due to the "every tool knowns about its own dependencies" strategy.
So of course we basically do agree. Marc Weber _______________________________________________ nix-dev mailing list nix-dev@lists.science.uu.nl http://lists.science.uu.nl/mailman/listinfo/nix-dev
