This is not an entry to discuss merits of various distros. I have what
I have to work with...
We are installing a system with a public IP on our network as a reverse
proxy / gateway to a variety of internal systems. I currently have a
reverse proxy working just fine on a CentOS server but wish to move away
from that machine as it is our PBX.
Yes, the quick solution is to build said gateway with CentOS. This has
become a bit of a challenge by now. I have done enough Google and RTFM
to choke a hippopotamus.
On the CentOS server, I went to /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and inserted
< 10 lines, the two most important of which were the ProxyPass and
ProxyPassReverse lines. It just worked.
Flip over to Ubuntu (Jaunty) and damn; /etc/apache2/httpd.conf is empty
and stuff is strewn all over the place. Dang if I can find a reference
that clarifies into WHICH ~...@#$% file I need to set the ProxyPass and
ProxyPassReverse lines. Ain't just worked!
Asking for a pointer, not for someone to do it for me. Thanks in advance.
