I've gotten used to using ^w to delete a word in a console and
^backspace in my browser, but sometimes I mix these up. This can be
frustrating when you're several paragraphs into a message in Gmail or
on Slashdot.

Doing some research, it looks like there are several extensions that
can disable the shortcut, but I think the best response would be to
delay it. Maybe disable it for a few seconds after typing or change
it to mimic what I'm used to. (Only problem here is that it would
train me for failure when I use someone else's computer)

This forum thread is the best discussion I've seen on the matter with
several extensions recommended:
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Accidentally-Closed-Browser-Windo-t336647.html

Keyconfig looks like the two most popular option extension for killing
the shortcut. Lazarus or Textarea Cache might also do in a pinch,
but prevention vs. cure, you know. :)

I only post here because I figure some other nlugger might feel my
pain and have already worked out a good solution. Otherwise, I think
I'll have to learn how to modify a Firefox extension and revisit
javascript in the near future.
