Your question is not unwanted, but it is odd. Most opensource software is maintained by someone who has an itch to scratch. It is a bug that has affected you, or it is of use to you or your employer. There isn't usually people who pick random projects to start helping. The itch is what usually provides the introduction to the software, and the knowledge of what it should do. After that, it is a matter of joining the community. Also a good many people who do this software maintenance will jump into whatever language the project is in. Once you know a language, it is easier to get the next one, and then it is easier to get more. So don't get hung up on the language as much as what is it you would be interested enough in to spend your off hours playing with. -- Steven Critchfield [email protected] -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "NLUG" group.
