If they immediately took the battery out of the laptop and in the opened position, held it upside down and let it dry, it would probably need a new keyboard at the most.. I've had this happen to my EEEPC and it's still working after 2 years...i made sure i got all the liquid out of the keyboard by pulling it immediately because i hate a sticky keyboard...
