If you are likely to be at the desk for a prolonged session, it would probably be better for your legs to be on a treadmill, set to a walking pace, than to simply stand in one place for several hours. Using a treadmill would mean that the various muscles and joints were taking turns being under load, instead of continuous load-bearing. This would also reduce the risk of developing a blood clot in your legs due to long immobility. -- John F.
