I am jumping in blind here, but has anyone ever noticed that MagicJack's
voice mail lady is the same lady for Asterisk (or it was at some point)
and/or they are using Asterisk on the backend. I had MagicJack for a year
back a few years ago back when you could still hack it to be a SIP
connection for Asterisk and was immediately struck that their voicemail
system sounded an aweful lot like Asterisk Comedian Mail both in it being
the same voice lady AND in the flow of the prompts in general. It would
make sense that a highly discounted operation like MagicJack trying to
control costs as Jack noted would naturally consider Asterisk as part of
that cost structure.

Linux Administator

Oh but being paid by them isn't :) ... Like everyone, they are trying to
make the 'back office' run faster, cheaper, easier (Somehow I feel I
should say 'pick 2' :)

I wouldn't be surprised if their internal infrastructure runs on Linux
even if the consumer product is 'not supported' or 'incompatible'.
