Thank you to one and all that chimed in on the partition discussion. We
might all agree that there is no "one size fits all" configuration.
I am trying to resurrect a system where underlying hardware has gone
kaput (heck, it's an eight year old kit that's been running 24/7 the
entire time. The exact resurrection is not the question.
When one cobbles together a system composed of hard disks that come from
all manner origins, what determines _which_ master boot record takes
precedence??? It would be convenient (but apparently wrong) that
/dev/sda would be the primary mbr (sound the klaxon).
Neither wishful thinking nor psychic powers seem to allow me to take
control of this process. Anybody got any tips?
