Yes, that was me. I never did succeed in getting that oscilloscope working (I bought it second-hand from someone who had built it partway from a kit, then lost interest). I no longer own it.

Hope this isn't too off topic for y'all!

There's an old oscilloscope for sale from the Nashville Goodwill store on ShopGoodwill.com:
https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/53589145

It's a Vu-Data PS-940 which I know nothing about so I Googled it and at the bottom of the page was a link to an old 1982 issue of Popular Electronics magazine with the blurb I've included at the very bottom of this email (please pardon the HTML email, but I wanted it to display the same way as on the page and I didn't know if I could include an image).

Note the name of our very own John F. Eldredge of 3188 Parthenon Ave. Nashville right next to Vu-Data Model PS-940!

If you follow the link you can see John's name and address actually appeared in a classified ad-like section called Operation Assist which was at the end of the magazine. He was asking for information about different oscilloscope listed right before the PS-940.

Scrolling through the magazine is a trip down memory lane. There's an ad with William Shatner selling the Commodore VIC-20 on page 9 and I saw at least a couple of mail-order shops selling the Atari 800 (my first computer).

Here's a working link to the page:

As for the scope: if it was outdated in 1982 I think it would be a real dinosaur today! So, I'm not really interested but I did see elsewhere on line that it's a very simple 20mhz scope for anyone who might want it. When I wrote this email the bidding was only up to $21.

Hope y'all found this at least a little bit entertaining (especially John).
